The Rules of the Power Struggle

Rule # 1: The gods shall choose two lovers as champions, who they will either assist or oppose.

Rule # 2: The female shall be placed in the Empty City and the male shall remain in the human world to ensure they do not interfere with the process of the game.

Rule # 3: The female shall remain in the Empty City until she manages to find a way to escape by herself.

Rule # 4: The male is not allowed to enter the Empty City under any circumstances.

Rule # 5: Despite a certain group of gods fighting on the side of a single champion, there are no sides. All the Fears opposing one other for the same prize.

Rule # 6: Two gods will be selected and will be give a small portion of their power to the champions, whether they are opposing or aiding them.

Rule # 7: Dying Man shards are not allowed to be part of the game as they are far too numerous,
giving them an unfair advantage.

Rule # 8: The Eye shall maintain order in the game and prevent any form of cheating.

Rule # 9: Gods are not allowed to steal the fraction of power given to their champion.

Rule # 10: Wonderland Core is not allowed to -

Sorry children, but you're not getting that last rule from me just yet. We'll keep in touch ~X

A history lesson

Sorry for being gone for so long, I've just had a lot to think about recently.

You see, the Forest explained the history of the game in... Very disturbing detail. I don't really understand most of it, but from what I can tell what's happening to me and Poet is merely a single portion of it called "The Power Struggle." Apparently eons before Earth was even formed the Fears were not limited in the things they were allowed to do. They abused their power and were incapable of comprehending what death was.

Which all changed when "The Executioner" arrived.

It was a greedy, power hungry entity that didn't see why he had to share with his brothers and sisters. So he stole their territory, he destroyed their subjects and he stole their strength. In an effort to finally defeat him, "The White Rabbit" and "The Duchess" attempted to send him into another reality known as the Cage. But even with their combined forces, the Executioner was too much for them.

He ripped their prison apart and nearly killed them. If it hadn't been for his arrogance, perhaps he might have succeeded.

For the destruction of the Cage inadvertently created "The Red King."

It "swallowed" the Executioner whole and almost destroyed the entire universe, until the gods managed to push it back. For the first time in their existence, the gods tasted their mortality. So they devised Power Struggle as a method to keep one another in check and to ensure that none of them would become too powerful.

I have to go now... The Forest says I have to return.

Day four of the forest

For the past four days I've been traveling through the forest, only stopping occasionally for rest and to hunting for food. Most of the animals I caught were rabbits or squirrels until yesterday, when I saw a "goat" easting the leaves off of a bush. I can't really explain why, but I suddenly became uncontrollably hungry when I saw it, even though I had eaten something moments before.

So I took out the makeshift spear I had created during my second day in the forest, and prepared to take my prize. As I approached the bush, I accidently stepped on a, alerting the "goat" of my presence. By now you've probably guessed that all those quotation marks that "goat" was fucked up somehow, so let me just come out and explain what it really was.

Its "head" was actually attacked onto it's body with stitches, and blood was dripping from the neck as if it was a recent wound. Aside from that, the rest of it looked like a naked human male who hadn't eaten in years. Despite that, it ran away at an incredible speed, and with its absence my hunger started to fade.

"Sorry about that," A voice from within the forest said. "The Wendigo doesn't have a domain of his own, so he travels throughout the Gods domains for protect."

"Who's there?!" I exclaimed as I prepared to attack. "Show yourself."

"Oh, but I already have. You see, I am this entire forest, and every single living plant within it."

The ground started to shake uncontrollably, and the trees in front of me started moving out of the way. Now that they were gone I could see two figures sitting at the dinning table I saw in my dreams months before me and Poet got involved with the Fears. I immediately recognized the Plague Doctor, but the other one was someone I had never seen.

They were dressed in a black suit and their face was covered by a gray mask that resembled a wolf. In one hand he held a cane and in the other he held a cup of tea. Judging by the encounter I had with the Plague Doctor in my dream, I pieced together that the forest was the man made of thorns and the man in the wolf mask was the hare.

"Please, take a seat Mister Memphis," The forests voice echoed. "We have much to explain."

Massacre

Jesus Christ, I never imagined that the Blind Man's prediction would have led to what happened yesterday. The Wonderland Core scientists attempted to gain entrance to the Empty City again, and by some miracle they managed to open a portal into it. When they brought me to it I almost cried, but our sudden stroke of luck was short lived.

As I approached the portal, the faceless abomination that attacked a few months ago appeared on the other side. It stood there for about a minute before it jumped into the portal and was transported into the facility. As it started tearing people apart with the branches coming out from his back, more monsters entered the facility and attacked everything.

As I attempted to make a run for it a feminine creature made out of wood wrapped strings around me, making it impossible for me to move an inch.

"Sorry sunshine" The creature made of wood said. "But so long as you have that tasty fraction of the Vision's power, you aren't going anywhere."

I was moments away from being killed when a man in a gas mask started shooting her with a sniper rifle. This distracted her long enough for her grip on me to loosen and allowed me to escape.

"You idiot, I had every right to claim him!"

"And I had every right to stop you, you pathetic excuse for a figurehead."

The Fears were now less concerned with killing me and focused all their attention on fighting one another. Before I took the chance to think things over, I ran towards the portal and jumped straight into it. But instead of ending up in the Empty City, I was transported somewhere else.

From the looks of it, this place is some sort of endless forest with absolutely no life in it. I don't have high hopes on escaping this place but if there's a chance of getting to Poet I have to keep moving.

So little time

As happy as I am that Poet is still alive, I can't really focus on that right now. According to the Blind Man, or whatever his real name is, I only have eight days to find a way to escape this facility before the Fears little game starts. I've been here for five months now and the only place I really know is my room.

I'm always blindfolded by an agent when I have to eat or when I'm brought to someone that wants to interrogate me, so I have next to no knowledge about this place. I've been begging the Vision to tell me how to control my powers, but even when I offered to become her servant she refused.

"I'm sorry my little Scion, but the Fears aren't not allowed to give champions unfair advantages outside of preventing other Fears from killing them. Besides, you would just use my power to betray me and save your girlfriend."

"For the last time we aren't the star crossed lovers you and the rest of the Fears are making us out to be. We're friends that live with one another as roommates, nothing more."

"Yes, that must be why you have to defend yourself whenever I hint at you two being closer than you want to admit. Face it Romeo, you're obviously in love with her and it's obvious to just about everyone but yourself. Even Poet is aware of your crush by the looks of all that blushing emoticons she used in her last post."

"Why are you even talking to me about this? You're one of the Fears opposing me after all."

"And that's supposed to mean I can't talk to you until the game starts? You should really focus on more important matters my little Scion."

"Stop calling me that already!"

"Must I really remind you that you are in no position to demand anything again?"

Looks like I'm going to have to find a way out of here own...

Talk with an aged god

I'm sorry for not reporting in such a long time...I just didn't feel like it. That agent girl left, like I said before but also fake!Memphis, leaving me all alone in this wasteland of a city for what seems like a year, but I think its more closer to a month or two in reality. Around what I think was July, I met a man wandering this empty city. He was really old and disoriented for the most part. From the looks of his shaded glasses & stick, it appeared like was blind.

"Mister?" I asked, being really relieved to be able to talk to someone again.

"Yes...why hello there Poet" he said and turned into my direction.

"You know my name?"

"Of course...In fact there is not a single thing I don't know"

"Alright, so can you explain this situation then?"

"It's a game, my dear. See, we the gods, fears, abominations...whatever you want to call us, tend to remain in a constant fight. There are no sides, just chaos...so in order to keep calm between us all, we invented this game as a sort of distraction.

"So what is the game?"

"Well young maiden. We pick two lovers that are chosen to be champions. Some oppose one of the champions others help. The game then starts August 27th, 2013. This is simply pre-planning"

I looked at him confused, since I wasn't understanding any of this.

"But...Memphis and I aren't lovers!"

He looked at me and with his crisp, yet deep voice answered me.

"You say that...but yet, me...an all-knowing god say otherwise. So that means that it's likely that you're acclaim is simply untrue or you have not acknowledged it as such yet"

My face blushed instantly. It was lucky that he was blind, otherwise he'd see it  >////<

"My name's Blind Man or Sam if you prefer. Wonderland calls me The Aged Aged Man, but I've never liked their nonsense naming system. But I'm here, at your service young maiden"

"So, you are on my side?"

"Yes, usually I remain as an observer. A neutral party along with the empty city, which we are currently standing in"

"Oh...why take a side now?"

"Times are changing maiden...There's a certain variable that is threatening even me. And I foresee if I don't step in, I will perish"

"But you are a god, what do you have to fear?" I asked.

He faced down and sighed.

"Everything, my dear...everything"

He then slowly walked away from me, after double tapping the ground with his stick. In a few moments a house formed around me, fully furnished with beds, food and everything.

I guess I'll have a place to sleep tonight.
But I don't like the sound of this game.

The Duchess

Turns out I'm going to have to update this blog sooner than I thought. Somehow, even with all of the military protection I have, one of the Fears broke into the Wonderland Core facility I've been ever since my hiatus started. Or at least I think it broke in. It's kind of hard to explain...

I was brushing my teeth when I noticed the woman with long orange hair laying down in my bed.

"What the- How did...?"

"Hello Mister Morrow. It is a pleasure to see you yet again." She said as if barging into my room was normal.

"Wait... You're that girl in the blue dress that was playing chess at the apartment lobby during Christmas."

"A girl? Hardly Mister Morrow. I am The Vision, the Fear of destiny and the inevitable. Or as these pesky Wonderland Core agents call me, The Duchess."

"You're the Duchess.? To be honest I was kind of expecting the Fear of destiny to look... a lot older "

"Many people do." She responded.

"Anyway... What the hell are you doing here?"

"That's just it Mister Morrow. I'm not here."

"I don't follow."

"Of course you don't my little Scion..."

"Scion?" I asked.

"You see Memphis, you and your "girlfriend" are part of a game. I can't explain the purpose of the game or what the rules are but I can explain one thing. Before the game can begin two Fears must sacrifice their power and give it to two humans. Said humans are then hunted down by one side and are protected by the other. And this year it was my turn to sacrifice a bit of my power..."

"You... You gave me your powers."

"An incredibly small bit of it, but yes I did. You see by looking into someone's eyes, I can transfer a small fragment of my mind into their subconscious. Which is what I did to you the first time we met my little Scion. By doing this I can communicate to you at all times. Even when you're under the protection of Wonderland Core."

"So you're just an illusion?"

"In a sense..." She answered. "However, not even Wonderland Core can keep you from me for long. It won't be long until you are free from their grasp and I can finally regain the fragment of my mind within you."

"If you want it so bad then why did you give it to me in the first place?"

"Because it is part of the game Mister Morrow." The Vision said as she slowly disappeared.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm sick and tired of not knowing what the fuck this game is all about.

Back from hatius

Sorry for being gone for so long, these damn Wonderland Core agents haven't allowed me to blog since my last update. Apparently despite what the "Wonderland Core" post would suggest they are very secretive, which has caused rumors of a traitor uploading that post so hiding from public view is harder for Wonderland Core.

Nothing much as happened recently, what with them keeping me hidden for months but I do have some good news. First off agent Red Riding Hood messed around with my computer and I can see all of Poet's post, that were originally hidden from me by something Wonderland Core calls "a Perception Filter."

Also the last post Poet made, confirmed that she was alive which means joining up with these agents wasn't a total loss. But if that part of her last part signed off by that X person is any indication, she's in a lot of trouble so we really need to hurry up and help her. Which is freaking impossible at the moment.

I can't get to Poet's location no matter how hard I try. You see she's trapped in this sentient alternate dimension called Wonderland (anyone else noticing a trend with all these Alice in Wonderland names?) and apparently this dimension refuses to let me enter it for some reason. For some reason Wonderland Core agents can get there just fine with some sort of teleportation technology but I can't.

Every single time we've tried I just wind up back here and that's not even the worst part. You see that last time we attempted it, strange graffiti appeared on the walls with absolutely no explanation. One minute there's no graffiti and a second later it's covering everything.

And here's what it said before it disappeared:

"Memphis Morrow is not allowed to enter the city, as it would break rule # 9 of the game. If you attempt to send him into it again, you will all be punished."

In other words there's no way I can help Poet. I'll make sure to update you guys on the situation as soon as something starts happening again.

I'm not certain what is happening, but Little Match Girl left me here and I passed out. I only just now woke up and the blog doesn't mention where Memphis is >_<

I JUST...I HATE THIS.

Conversation with a shard

Memphis: Hello?

The Shining One: Hello Memphis.

Memphis: Shining One? How the fuck did you get my phone number?

The Shining One: Getting the phone number of a guy that uploads accounts of his life onto the internet isn't that hard to figure out if you have the right hacking skills.

Memphis: Um... Fair enough. Anyway what the hell do you want?

The Shining One: As those pesky Wonerland Core agents mostly likely told you I'm a Dying Man shard, a fragment of the personification of death.

Memphis: Yeah I know all about how you possess people and slowly make people decay and all of that. Just tell me what you want.

The Shining One: Fine, I'll get to the point. You see what I said about the Dying Man wanting you and Poet to survive is bullshit. Besides a few shards,  they all want at least one of you dead. The only difference between them and the rest of the Fears is that they don't have to abide by the rules of the games.

Memphis: So what you want to help us?

The Shining One: You misunderstand. Just because I am telling you doesn't mean I'm your ally or that I will help you. I only saved you to ensure None didn't get that power locked inside of you. If it were up to me I would kill you right now, but it's too difficult to do with all of those idiots guarding you. So instead, we're targeting your girlfriend.

Memphis: What!?

The Shining One: I just wanted to tell you personally so you don't mistake it being the handy work of another Fear.

Memphis: If you touch a hair on her-

The Shining One: This conversation should be uploading to your blog as we speak so don't bother trying to write about this. Goodbye Mr. Morrow.

None

According to Red Riding Hood we were close to our designation, and that the safe house was in Alaska. It feels weird coming back to home country again. You see while I live in Nova Scotia, Canada, I was born in New York city and lived there for thirteen years until my family had to move to Nova Scotia because of my dad's job. The last time I came here was to join the war in Afghanistan

Anyway I'm rambling. Me explaining why I became a U.S. Marine isn't why I'm writing this.

During the drive to Alaska Red Riding Hood explained more about the Guardians of Wonderland, or Fears as they're normally called. Apparently they're a pantheon of eldritch abominations that terrorize humanity and me and Poet are apart of some "game" of theirs. Which sort of explains that dream I had awhile ago. They know full well how dangerous these things are and yet they keep on talking about how they're going to "control them."

"Don't worry Memphis, a squad was sent to escort Poet to our base as we speak" Red said to me.

That didn't comfort me though, if anything I felt worse because she could be attacked and I would have no way of knowing.

"Sir there's a woman in front of the road, what should I do?" Our driver asked Wolf.

I looked out the window and to my utter shock I saw Poet standing right in front of of our truck. I took my change to escape and pushed Red out of my way and jumped out the truck.

"Memphis wait!" Red yelled.

I ignored her of course, getting Poet away from these psychopathy's was all the mattered. She hugged me extremely tightly as soon as I got to her.

"Dear god, I thought I would never see you again Memphis."

"Get away from that thing Memphis!" Wolf screamed. "That isn't Poet!"

"What are you talking about of course I'm Poet." Poet defended herself

"Memphis, that thing is one of them! It's one of the Guardians of Wonderland." Red said.

Before I could process what to do, and to decide which to trust, a bullet went straight through Poet's head. Instead of blood, large chunks of some sort of brown liquid started pouring out from Poet's head. Or more accurately it's head. The shooter was surprisingly not one of the Wonderland Core agents and instead it was a woman on the other side of the road, wearing a pink ski race suit and had a Colt M1911 pistol.

"Dammit, I was hoping that I could do this without any confrontation but that ship has passed" It said as it placed a knife to my throat.

"It's nice to see that you're as foolish as always None." The women in the ski race suit said.

"Well if it isn't the Shining One! I suggest leaving before Aqualung gets her sweety. After all Dying Man shards aren't allowed in this game for being far too numerous. "

"While we are usually willing to stay on the side lines for your stupid fight, Poet and Memphis are far too valuable to allow you to kill them."

The Shining One then shot None in the hand, giving me enough time to escape and get back into the truck. In a last ditch effort to get us None latched onto my door and started smashing the windows. However one quick kick to the stomach from Red fixed that problem and we drove off as fast as possible.

dream

Someone posted on the blog. It wasn't Memphis and this chick here is really creeping me out.
I've beginning to have weird dreams.

Some of them are of an explicit nature, NOT going to reveal them <///<

But the dreams in questions I'm just standing in the middle of the black void and a light is shining on me. Then I end up melting away somehow, only my flesh and bones remaining.

I told Little Match Girl this.

She didn't care.

I'm hungry <_<

Wonderland Core

It would appear that Mister Morrow and Miss Marleau have both come in contact with our agents. Agent "Big Bad Wolf", Agent "Red Riding Hood", and Agent "Little Match Girl". Realizing that the runner community would want to know who we are me and my fellow Brother Grimm have decided it is time to tell you who we are.

It doesn't really matter if you know about us, after all if no one believes in the creatures that stalk you no one believe that we exist either. You see centuries ago when the U.S. government learned about the creatures we call "The Guardians of Wonderland" a think tank was created to find a way to best deal with them.

Many went with the simplistic idea of just outright killing them. A few others decided to attempt to imprison and then study them. Our solution was far different. We wanted to control The Guardians and use them to benefit all of mankind. Before you call us crazy just think about it.

If we controlled Wonderland (The City) we could use it to house the homeless and prevent overpopulation. With access to The Aged Aged Man's (The Blind Man) library we could learn about history long forgotten. The Mock Turtle (The Newborn) could lead us to create countless advancements in technology. The list goes on.

We are Wonderland Core, and we hope you will be an excellent addition to our group Mister Morrow and Miss Marleau .

Explanation

Okay we've stopped driving and we're hiding in a motel. Now that we're far away from the man without a face the private investigator started explaining what was happening. He started off by saying that he worked for some weird government agency and that his designated name is Agent Big Bad Wolf and his partner is Agent Red Riding Hood.

Weird I know, but that's not what's really important, what he told me after.

"That thing that attacked you is the Slender Man, or the Jabberwock as the organization I work for calls it. It is one of The Guardians of Wonderland, abominations that toy with humans and destroy their lives to further their goals. Before I joined Wonderland Core I was hunted by one of them like you..."

"This... entire situation seems like a really bad dream." I responded to him

"I wish it was."

"So... What do they want from me?" I asked.

"I have no clue. All I know is that it's so important that The Duchess and The Unicorn are working together to have you killed."

Despite the nature of what he was saying I couldn't help but laugh at those ridiculous names.

I need to get in contact with Poet before the Guardians get to her and the only way I'm going to be able to do that is to ditch these agents. And pray that the Guardians don't get me first.

On the run

I'll need to rush through writing this, there's no telling how long until that thing comes back. I'm just going to post this and get the fuck out of here!

I was walking through that park I mentioned in my second post, for one last moment of nostalgic in it before it is taken down. That's when the leaves turned back and the man without a face appeared. It was hard to see what he was at first, he looked just like a tree in the middle of the forest. But then I saw his face, or more accurately his lack of a face.

As soon as I saw it I bolted and he followed. For inch I ran, he walked two. As I examined him from ground I noticed he had no feet. He merely rooted himself into the ground.

"Dola picked such a pathetic contestant. If this is the best you can do, then the girl is probably dead by now..." The man without a face said.

I thought I was done when a bullet went through the faceless man's shoulder. I didn't take the time to see who shot him, I just started running again. I ran until the leaves went back to normal and I was in my apartment building. When I got to my room I found that private investigator guy and some chick gathering my stuff.

"What the f-" I attempted to say.

"There's no time for explain, just start packing!" The investigator said.

"Hell no, I want an explanation from you right now!"

"How about you repay me for saving your life from the Jabberwock instead!"

"Tha- That was you?"

"Yes now start packing."

I protested some more until his girlfriend pulled out a gun on me. It took a lot of time to convince her to let me write this but if I'm going to die I want to make sure everyone knows what happened to. But hopefully that won't be the case...

Oh crap, I forgot about Poet!

MEMPHIS!!!!

Memphis seems to have had a dream involving a bunch of things. Ra called those fears or "Guardians of Wonderland".

Apparently her official name is not Ra, but Agent Little Match Girl. She talked to me a bit about Memphis. She creeps me out if I may say so. She works for an organization called Wonderland Core.

I'm not sure why she is here with me or what that has to do with anything.

I wish Memphis would just be able to read my posts, he'd understand...he'd know about it.
I want to warn him.

But I ca

Wonderland

Poet says it was just a dream but I know it isn't. That was far too real. I need... I need to write it down before I forget. I found myself in a large field, with no one in sight for miles besides him, the man in gray. As he looked at his pocket watch he pointed directly at me and

"Follow me child" He said. "Follow me into the rabbit hole..."

I had no choice in the matter, my legs moved on their own and followed the man out into the forest. We stopped at the edge of the wilderness. As we entered their meeting ground we found the March Hare, the Dormouse, and Mad Hatter all sitting at their large table covered with the most delicious looking food anyone could imagine. Not that they needed it of course, it merely acted as a distraction, to make me think that they were less threatening.

"How dare you bring a human into my realm White Rabbit!" The Hare screamed. "You have-"

"I have done nothing that you have not done in the past Morpheus." The man in gray said.

"Let him speak Morpheus. Obviously he has brought us an important piece." The Dormouse said as he pointed at me with his fingers made of thorns.

"Indeed. This is your new champion."

At this point the Hatter got up from his chair and with the aid of his cane walked up to me. He examined my body and then he looked at the man in gray. Bugs started pouring out from his eyeholes and as they landed on the ground they started piling on top of one another and started forming words.

"I assume that you and Isalein have found your champion as well."

"Of course." The man in gray said.

"Then let the trials begin."

As I looked into the Hatter's eyeholes the forest disappeared and I found myself back home.

Not alone, but....

I met another person here.
She didn't want to say her name, but she told me I could call her Ra, like the egyptian god, neat I suppose.
She gave me some food...finally people food. Ive been eating berries for weeks now.
Fake!Me is still the in the real world according to Memphis. Ra explained to me that Fake!Memphis is a creature called None, a hive mind of copied personas, which would also explain not!me.
Ra told me stories of the misery-makers.
I....Im so confused and scared.
At least Im not alone anymore.

It's been awhile, huh?

I've been too busy with my job to update this recently and Poet is writing non-stop. For the first time I could ever really gotten here Poet seems to be lot more active. Which is a little odd. Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that she seems to be happier but it's so unlike her.

Anyway enough of my damn rambling, you guys probably want to hear something interesting. Or in the case of this story goddamn creepy. You see a private investigator (he didn't tell me his name) moved into our apartment and has been going around random questions. He decided to move onto me and "interviewed" me.

"Excuse me Mister Morrow was it?"

"Yeah that's me..."

"Good, good. Can you please tell me if you have seen a woman without irises?"

"What? I don't know who you're talking about so no I haven't"

"Hmm... She should have been here by now..."

He then started to right in a journal labelled "The Guardians of Wonderland" and walked off...

Yep there are a lot of crazy people in this city.

FUCK

Alright, I'm not sure what is happening. Memphis explains in his last post that I'm apparently fine.
Do these posts I'm making just don't manage to get to Memphis from whereever I am? Or is it that Memphis specifically doesn't manage to see my posts. Either way that is the least of my worries.
I walked around the city and the fake Memphis was the only person there, the rest of the city is empty.
The fake Memphis followed me for the first few days, but then wandered off.
He didn't talk, like at all.
I...I don't think I can take this. It's almost the same as I felt back when Memphis was in the war.
I feel so benumbed.

She's safe

I'm so goddamn happy right now! You see a few days ago Poet's mom came to me asking where the Poet was. I was confused at first since I was pretty sure she was at a meeting with Robert. Then Poet's mom said she she never heard of anyone called Robert.

I called the police and they couldn't find Robert or Poet anywhere in his office building. I expected the worst when Poet was found wandering in the woods with Robert. According to her she has been wanting to use fictionalized versions of the areas in the city for her new book, so Robert drove her around from location to location.

Part of me wants to yell at Poet for being so selfish and not telling anyone before she left but I'm too happy to see her safe that I don't care.

HELP!

I feel so alone. Memphis is here but ... it's not Memphis. I've been walking around the city in the hopes of running into someone familiar, so far no luck.
This place feels uncomfortable, this isn't my home town.
Where am I?
